Alicia Delaware ( Rosabell Laurenti Sellers ) is hospitalised. The scientists have trouble with the idea that the non-human intelligence uses biology instead of technology.
The humans have a weapon that can kill the Yrr. Someone suggests actually using it. Nobody seems to realise that they would be declaring a war of extinction with an intelligence that spans all the oceans, which make up more than half the Earth's surface. If they fail to kill all the Yrr, it will just grow back and counterattack without mercy.
The climax turns out to be a rehash of The Abyss (1989) .
