Meeting the woman who plays Harmony the ditzy vampire in the Buffy and Angel television shows is quite daunting. While in the queue awaiting autographs, the steward walked along the line and told people to write down their name if it had a difficult spelling. In fairness it is to be noted that Michael Sheard has commented in his autobiographies how difficult it is to get the correct spelling of certain names - Ian or Iain, Steven or Stephen, John or Jon and so on. However, since Harmony is renowned for her stupidity ...

However, upon conversing with the lady herself it became apparent that such fears were unfounded. Not only is she much more attractive than the character she plays, she actually reads books! For fun!

After the signing, Ms McNab not only consented to have her photograph taken for ORBzine but also submitted to a brief interview. Mercedes McNab

ORBzine: What was the last good book you read?

Mercedes McNab: The last book, I just finished yesterday, was ... The Lion's Gate by Nelson DeMille.

I take it he's your favourite author

At the moment, yeah.

So it's thrillers ...

Yep, thriller, non-fiction. It was about terrorism. The one before that was Plum Island, it was about Anthrax.

Ah yes, in New York State.

The one which got me started on him was The Gold Coast, which is all about the Italian Mafia. I really wanted to be a Mob Don after I read the book.

You're going to have Minions?

[Ms McNab giggles]

I figure if acting doesn't work out for me I'll be a Mob Don. I'll move to Little Italy and eat a lot of Italian food.

So, what was the last good movie you saw?

The last film I saw was Crossroads. One of my friends was in it, so I have to be careful about what I say. It turned out to be better than I expected.
